Sucle: A Spray Package for Young Graffiti Artists

Designing Resistance and Expressing Defiance

Sucle is a unique spray package designed by Minsuk Kim to support the artistic activities of young graffiti artists. With its focus on resistance and positive messaging, Sucle aims to provide a visual identity and functional tool for graffiti art.

Sucle is more than just a spray package; it represents the spirit of resistance and defiance that defines the graffiti art movement. Graffiti art is often seen as a form of resistance, and Sucle seeks to amplify this message through its design. By using six materials with messages of aesthetic defiance, Sucle expresses the resistance of the art sector of graffiti in a metaphorical and artistic way.

One of the key features of Sucle is its visual identity, which is achieved through the use of digital printing on thick paper. This not only ensures the durability of the package, considering the active nature of graffiti art, but also allows for the expression of the unique texture and visual characteristics of graffiti art.

The Sucle spray package consists of two parts: a large package and small packages. The large package is designed with handles for easy portability during graffiti art sessions. It contains a total of six basic color spray small packages, each representing a different message of defiance. The small packages are designed to be reusable, with a simplified opening and closing process using magnets.

The design specifications of Sucle include a large package measuring 240mm x 160mm x 170mm and a small package measuring 60mm x 60mm x 120mm. These dimensions were carefully chosen to ensure both functionality and portability for young graffiti artists.

The Sucle project started in March 2018 and was completed in July 2018 in South Korea. During the design process, Minsuk Kim conducted extensive research on graffiti art and its history of resistance. The aim was to create a spray package that not only provided a tool for artistic expression but also conveyed a deeper philosophical message of resistance.

Sucle has received recognition for its innovative design and contribution to the art world. In 2019, it was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Packaging Design category. This prestigious award is given to well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. Sucle's integration of industry best practices and competent technical characteristics make it a valuable addition to the world of graffiti art.
